TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Culture and Elementary and Secondary Education Minister Anies Baswedan said in his speech during the commemoration of the National Teachers Day that everyone in the country could become a teacher.
"Constitutionally, a nation is responsible for education. However, all educated men and women are morally responsible to educate others," the former Paramadina University rector said.
Anies also called on professionals to lend a hand to both schools and teachers. "I invite [composer] Addie M.S. to become our conductor today. We can see the enthusiasm from teachers and students today," he said.
"Imagine if this is applied to all schools in Indonesia. Our students will be pumped up to learn about the profession that might just be their future," the minister said.
Anies also expressed his gratitude to all teachers in Indonesia. "Carry on being an inspiration for us and your students," he said.
