TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Bandung Technology Institute (ITB) Art Market which is being held on Sunday offered variety of unique installation art and rides. The arts made by the students of Bandung Institute of Technology were displayed along the way from the gate up to the other end of the arena.
The gates, which are located on the intersection of Jalan Taman Sari and Dago, are made of bamboo fragments and are called Ka Gate (read as kaget which means ‘surprised’ in Indonesian).
After passing the gate, there lied a cube of 7-meter in diameter and 6-meter height. On its sides, there was a couple of hands waving. A statue of a person was seen busy with computer and communication device inside the cube. The installation was a mockery to people who are always busy with themselves and not moving anywhere.
The organizer had also turned a grass field and road outside the art market into a Great Work Hall where artists exhibited their completed works. The West Hall is turned into ‘semestarium’, a breathtaking place to admire the universe.
Across the place beside the East Hall, there is ‘panggung intim’ (intimate stage) where musicians alumni of the institute perform. ‘Museum Satu’ (museum of one) which displays works of sciences by ITB is set up inside the East Hall.
Entering the campus’ center boulevard, the organizer put a giant dinosaur statue entitled ‘Rusted Beast’.
There even a site called ‘ Tak Kenal Maka Tak Sayang’ (Know it to Love it) that facilitates singles to get their love mate. The site is in a form of interactive game inside a cube.
In addition to the rides and arts, rows of kiosks selling their products, souvenirs, and culinary were set up between the rides and installations. The Art market started from 09:00 to 18:00 local time.
