TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Russia's Foreign Affairs Minister Sergei Lavrov has criticized the United States (US) for its approach in relation to the situation in Syria.
"How much longer should we judge the US approach to the situation in Syria by the furthest limits of ideology?," asked Lavrov during a question-and-answer session at the Russian Council on Foreign and Defense Policy in Moscow on Saturday, reported SANA.
Lavrov also went on to criticize the US for not seeking the mandate of the United Nations (UN) Security Council for its military operations against the hardline Islamist group, Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in the region.
"Of course the US needs to seek out the approval of the Security Council, since Syria is still a sovereign member of the UN that hasn't been discharged by the structure," said Lavrov.
