TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) chief Bambang Musyawardana said the Jakarta province is a hundred percent ready for flood as every agency has synergized well this year.
“We have enough logistics to meet the needs of flood victims,” he told Tempo on Sunday. The Jakarta government receives many donations from private parties, NGOs and other stakeholders. The donations are in forms of rubber boats, foods and medicines.
Bambang said the number of rubber boats and other tools will be enough to evacuate victims. “There are around 200 rubber boats,” he said.
Foods and medicines are already prepared in the social and health agencies. Each agency has calculated in their budget for flood mitigation, so logistics are secure.
Bambang continued that if flood emergency response status was declared by the governor, each agency must swiftly re-check their supplies and buy more logistics to be given to the people. If the budget is not enough, the agency must immediately submit on call fund that will be disbursed in 12 hours.
The BPBD and related agencies are also preparing a backup operation plan that will be used if the flood mitigation efforts are not effective. “We synergize with the military and the police to maximize this year’s flood mitigation efforts,” he said.
