TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – President Joko Widodo is slated to have a get-together with Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama at the Bogor Palace on Monday, November 24, 2014. In the meeting, Jokowi will also meet with governors nationwide.
"The president wants to hear suggestions from the governors,” said Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo on Sunday, adding that the meeting was a follow-up on the coordination meeting held last month.
Tjahjo said the meeting also sought to update the president on the development progress in regions and problems encountered by local governments. The governors, he went on, were also invited to furnish the president with suggestions regarding the matter.
“This is an attempt to cut the bureaucratic red tape,” he said.
In the meeting, which will also be attended by regents and mayors, Jokowi will be accompanied by the Home Affairs Minister; the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs; the Minister of Public Works; the Finance Minister, the Cabinet Secretary; and the Head of the National Development Planning Board (Bappenas).
In the prior coordination meeting, Jokowi presented his Working Cabinet’s visions and missions for the next five years, with the focal point being streamlined bureaucracy and regional policy that sided with investors.
