TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The conclusion of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Beijing is marked by the return of thick smog, which has enveloped the capital since the beginning of this week.
China's Meteorological Administration said on Thursday, November 20, 2014, that several Northern cities - which includes Beijing, Tianjin, as well as swathes of Hebei and Henan Provinces - should expect smoggy weather until the end of this week.
The national weather agency also said that the smogs might also occur northeast, northwest, and south of the Yangtze River.
Beijing Meteorological Bureau said that air quality in the capital has reached 'Code Yellow' - or hazardous to health - especially in downtown Beijing and its' southern districts.
Throughout the duration of the 2014 APEC Summit in Beijing, skies over Beijing and its' vicinity was relatively blue and air quality across the capital was relatively improved as China ordered the mandatory closure of all factories around the capital, and asked Beijing's residents to utilise public transport in a bid to reduce congestion and improve air quality.
