TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Paper Mill Pura Group Director Purnama Setiawan, said that Indonesia's current material for banknotes mostly come from foreign companies such as England and Germany, through a tender process.
According to Purnama, if all material for banknotes are sourced domestically, it will certainly save a large amount of money. "It could save up to 30 million Euros [around Rp 456 billion]," Purnama told Tempo on Thursday, November 20, 2014.
However, he said that saving fund from imported paper materials will not be easy because the Indonesian government is not in favor for domestic paper industries.
Therefore, Purnama hoped that the new government will be able to utilize domestic industry to supply materials for banknotes.
