The Earth Laughs in Flowers

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Many would agree that seeing flowers makes feeling better. Even the poet Ralph Waldo Emerson once said ‘the earth laughs in flowers’. That is excactly what Clea tries to bring into its brand new lounge interior located in Kemang. Under the same management with the Tea Addict cafe, Clea was opened three months ago.

When entering Clea, we would be greeted by soft scent of a vase-full of Baby Breath and Statice flowers. Further inside, we would see orange roses spread everywhere. In addition to groups of four stems placed in glass pot on the table, big buckets of the roses are placed on the bar table, and other corners of the room. It is just like being on a picnic in a flower park.

The interior at Clea is simple yet sweet. Just like a blooming rose at its most wonderful state. The lounge is dominated by white- a safe choice for those who wants to bring in vintage impression and intimacy- with minimalist wooden furnitures in caramel brown.

The place is feminine and more suitable for girls to hang out,” said Fran, one of male visitors we met that day.

The lounge separated by the adjacent Clea flower shop by galss partition. The spot near partition becomes the favorite place to be photographed and uploaded to their social media accounts.

Yes, in Clea, guests are welcomed to have tea time while chatting and enjoying the colorful flower behind the gass wall. There are roses, lily, orchid, Chinese roses in various colors from white, yellow, and pink. The flowers ornamenting the lounge are taken from the flower shop.

“When they are slightly withers, we will replace them wo that guests are carried away by its freshness,” said Amsari, an employee at Clea.

Like other tea houses, Clea is trying hard to present homey and casual ambience so that it will suitable to have chat with the group. However, seems like Clea is only relying on its ‘neighbor’ flower shop. Without it, Clea will be withered. Not to mention the jazz music that were played twice when we spent two hours at the lounge.

It is safe to say that types of foods offered at the lounge is quite complete. Starting from snacks, cute cakes such as red velvet, salad, also heavy meals such as pasta are available. Asian foods such as grilled chicken and French escargot are also on the menu. The dish tagged for around Rp30,000.

The escargot that we ate was not too special. The snail meat was not tender enough but it was poured with delicate garlic and butter sauce. The warm ginger tea with cinnamon were of refreshing effect to the throat and relaxing.

There are many options of beverages at Clea. Even though they dont have tea set such as those served at Bradley’s British Tea House, Senopati, we can choose among herbal tea, black tea, white tea, green tea, frappe, juice, and coffee at around Rp25,000 to Rp40,000.
