TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Protesters have continued to flock to Jl. Merdeka Utara in front of the Presidential Palace on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 to oppose the government's decision to increase subsidized fuel prices. President Joko Widodo announced the fuel price hike on Monday night.
A number of groups, such as People’s Struggle Front, Indonesian Islamic Students Association, and Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia took turn in delivering their orations, protesting the policy.
The protests, which proceed orderly, are triggering traffic jam in front of the palace.
"[We] have deployed nine police companies," said Central Jakarta Police chief Sr. Comr. Hendro Pandowo on Tuesday.
