Former Pertamina Commissioner: SKK Migas Serves Wrong Function

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Pertamina commissioner Roes Aryawijaya said the Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Special Task Force (SKK Migas) has yet performed its function since it was founded. The SKK Migas, which was formerly known as BP Migas, was founded to supervise contractors’ operations.
“[The SKK Migas] should not be involved in oil and gas operation, let alone in setting LNG prices,” Roes said after a discussion at Warung Daun, Jakarta on Saturday, November 15, 2014.
Roes, who claimed himself as one of the initiators of oil and gas law, viewed that the SKK Migas performance has deviated from one of its main tasks, such as representing the government to sign contracts.
Kardaya Warnika, Energy Commission Chief at the House of Representatives, said the need of having the SKK Migas should be reviewed since the institution was to serve temporary functions. Moreover, the Constitutional Court recommended the government to form a team to review SKK Migas format.
