TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chief of Islamic Defender Front (FPI) Rizieq Shihab said that acting governor of Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama does not deserve the governor position as he is Christian and not from Jakarta. "Ahok needs to be removed from his post as he is an enemy of Islam," Rizieq told Tempo.
"Ahok is stupid and arrogant. He wants us to discuss the matter. Do we look like we want a discussion? We want him down!" said Rizieq.
On Tuesday, Ahok filed a recommendation letter to dismiss FPI to the Legal and Human Rights Ministry. Ahok stated that the organization often performs anarchy, spreads hatred, and obstructs the governor inauguration.
"FPI has violated the constitution for obstructing local government and causing insecurity," said Ahok.
The pro and cons of FPI dismissal has actually raised two years ago, in which Rizieq answered that the government does not need to bother to dismiss FPI. "We will disband ourselves," he said in 2012.
