TEMPO.CO, Beijing – The U.S. and Russia have agreed to exchange information on the Russia-Ukraine border. The deal was made during the meeting between U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in APEC Summit in Beijing.
“We do have some disagreements about some of the facts on the ground with respect to Ukraine. We have agreed to exchange some information between us regarding that. And we have also agreed this is a dialogue that will continue,” Kerry said as reported by Euronews on Saturday, November 8, 2014.
Lavrov said U.S. involvement in the Russia-Ukraine conflict resolution would be the right move for a good purpose and the U.S. should discourage “hot heads” in Ukraine from resuming conflict.
He continued that Russia-Ukraine’s current condition is currently safe, following the ceasefire that has been signed between the rebels and the government.
Lavrov laughed off Kiev’s claims that there had been a new Russian military incursion into eastern Ukraine this week.
“Even (spokeswoman) Jen Psaki said that the State Department doesn’t have the information about this,” he said. “Well, if Psaki doesn’t have it, I don’t.”
Previously, the U.S. had disagreed on Russian involvement in Ukraine’s conflict and even threatened to call for heavy sanctions on President Vladimir Putin from the EU.
