TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Avtomat Kalashnikova 47 or famously known around the world as AK-47, which is a Russian-made assault rifle, has been an iconic option for armed forces across the globe. Its users vary from military personnel, guerilla fighters, even terrorists.
After 67 years and 100 million production units, Kalashnikov Concern, the company that produces the AK-47, began introducing the next generation of the rifle. Andrey Baryshnikov from Kalashnikov Concern, said that the company brought along AK-103, AK-104, and AK-105 to be displayed in the Indo Defence 2014 Expo at the JIExpo, Kemayoran, Jakarta.
Baryshnikov said that the newly designed Kalashnikov rifles are more compact and reliable in various field of combat. Weighing only 3.2 kilograms, the rifle boasts flexibility in battles. Baryshnikov added that the three new rifles are capable of bursting 600 rounds per minute, with muzzle speed of more than 670 meters per second.
