TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Year 2014 sees a decline in crude palm oil (CPO) exports compared to the previous year. With just three months remaining, CPO producers doubt that this year's export value could exceed 2013's.
Joko Supriyono, secretary general of the Indonesian Palm Oil Association said on Thursday (Gapki) that as of September 2014, CPO exports value was 99 percent of last year's third quarter achievement. According to Gapki's records, CPO exports value in 2013 totaled at 19.7 million tons.
With just three months left, Joko said, there is not enough time to improve export performance. According to Joko, most producers opted not to export their goods as CPO prices are falling in international markets.
