TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo said the launch of Indonesia Healthy Card (KIS) and Indonesia Smart Card (KIP) was aimed at maintaining public purchasing power when the fuel subsidy is ready to be redirected.
"[KIS and KIP] are aimed to maintain [public] purchasing power and to provide people with healthcare and education," Jokowi said during the launch of KIS and KIP programs on Monday, November 03, 2014.
According to Jokowi, KIP and KIS will be distributed to provide public with access to education and healthcare facilities. The former Mayor of Solo added that the number of card recipients may even larger if the budget for the programs is increased.
"It could happen. We will increase the budget to provide people with education and healthcare," Jokowi said.
After distributing KIS and KIP in Jakarta, Jokowi said that the government will focus on reforming healthcare services at hospitals. The government, Jokowi added, is targeting to complete KIS and KIP distributions across the country by the end of this year.
