Indonesia to Purchase Oil from Angola

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As part of budget efficiency measures, President Joko Widodo on Friday, October 31, 2014 at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, signed an agreement with Angolan Vice President Domingos Fincente regarding the purchase of oil from the African country.
President Joko Widodo said that the purchase of oil from Angola could improve budget efficiency.
"We will directly buy the oil from a national company in Angola,” President Joko Widodo said.
After the signing of the agreement, Indonesia, represented by state-owned gas and oil company PT Pertamina (persero), will purchase oil from Sonangol EP, an Angola national oil company.
During the meeting, President Joko Widodo was accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Sudirman Said, and Cabinet Secretary Andi Widjajanto.
President Joko Widodo hoped that cooperation between two countries would give benefits for the people of the countries.
He also called on related minister to follow up this agreement through technical schemes.
