TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - North Korean officials have announced that they will quarantine foreigners for 21 days in an effort to prevent Ebola infection. The action implied that the North Korean people are frightened by the outside world and outside influences.
Worrying that Ebola outbreak might reach the country, North Korea has banned tourists and put business groups on hold. The Guardian also reported that suspicion is high, as two officers wearing full hazmat gear came greeting a high-level delegation from Japan yesterday.
The announcement on quarantine was distributed on Thursday, Ocotber 30, 2014, stating that regardless of country or region of origin, all foreigners will be quarantined under medical observation for a duration of 21 days.
"Foreigners from affected countries will be quarantined at one set of locations, while those from unaffected countries will be sent to other locations, including hotels," the announcement writes. "The staff of diplomatic missions and international organizations will be allowed to stay in their residences."
