TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo has asked all of his ministers to start working straight away in order to meet the general public's expectations of the new administration.

"We have to work from day one and we cannot be stumped by any obstacle, including organisational structures," said the newly-inaugurated President at the opening of the first cabinet meeting at the President's Office in Jakarta on Monday, October 27, 2014.

Ministers whose ministries' structures remained unchanged under the new cabinet should be able to start working straight away, said the President.

"Don't forget to check the organisational structure, budget, as well as existing work plans before starting your duties at your respective ministries," said President Jokowi.

President Jokowi asked those who are responsible for ministries that were merged and/or renamed to utilise currently existing structures to support their work, while those who are responsible for newly-formed ministries were asked to coordinate with the State Secretary, as well as the State Development Planning Agency to prepare the required infrastructures.

"Those whose ministries were merged and/or reformed - such as the Minister for Research, Technology and Higher Education - should direclt liaise with the appropriate Directorate General. We have prepared the Presidential Decree on the matter," he said.

"Meanwhile, those in need of a work space and support staff - such as the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs - should contact the State Secretary and the Administrative Reforms Minister for assistance. That said, I implore you to start working as soon as you can, with whatever you can lay your hands on," finished the President.
