TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Wide variety of cakes, desserts, and pastry were showcased at Patissera 2014 which was held in Balai Kartini, South Jakarta on Thursday, October 20. Inspired by cake, pastry and desserts from Japan and Korea, the Patissera event carried the theme of ‘pop elegance in healthy way’.
According to Iman Setia, the Marketing Communication Manager of Gandum Mas Kencana, the event is the firstly held and planned to be an annual event. Visitors could interact directly with the chef, tasted their pastry, and asked questions.
“Korean and Japan [cakes] will continue to color pastry world in 2015. It is characterized with ‘mess up and switch up’. It can be a Menu A that combined with Menu B, or presenting street food in a classy food styles,” Iman added.
Chef Arif Maulana from Bandung presented cakes and pastry in ‘healthy veggie’ concept.
“Not only it is healthy, but also packed in an attractive Korean-style pastry,” Arif explained.
Arif believes that there are many kinds of fruit can be made into cakes, such as bananas, apple, pear, and even durians. In the Patissera event, Arif presented Carrot Swiss Roll, Strawberry Roll Strudel, Kimchi Flat Bread, Strawberry Pizza, dan Korean Veggie in Pie.
Other concept that is predicted to be trending in 2015 is the ‘fun kiddie’ pastry for children. This concept offers healthy pastry with attractive colors and shapes. The concept of ‘Healthy Veggie’ that uses vegetables and fruits as the main ingredients is also mentioned.
In other corner, there are Ombre layer that has color gradation, and classy small pastry such as choux, eclairs, truffle, and single portion pastry.
