TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An international culture festival ‘Padang Bagalanggang 2’ is kicked start yesterday in several locations in Padang, West Sumatra. The performance art is rolling until November 1 to present foreign and national artists.
Among the artists are Kana Ote (Japan), Rianto (Japan-Solo), Natya Dance Theater Company (Chicago, USA), Blushing Poppy Production (Chicago,USA), SS-EN Butoh Company (Sweden), Ileana Citaristi (India), Paul Adolpus (Australia), and Anna Estelles (Spain).
The artists will be held in several locations such as Ladang Nan Jombang in Rimbo Tarok, and Bureau for Cultural Values Preservation (BNPB) in Kuranji, Padang.
Head of Padang Bureau for Cultural Values Preservation, Nurmatias, said that he has asked the invited foreign artists to wear more closed clothing during their stay in Padang. This is to answer complaints launched by residents after the first Padang Bagalanggang Festival was held.
Art communities from West Sumatra such as Teater Intro, Teater Ranah, Sa’andiko, Impessa Dance and Sending Kenayan will also enliven the international festival.
