TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Asia Health Index survey, brought by the Sun Life Financial Asia, came up with a surprising twist that cites Indonesians tend to opt social media than real sports. Chief Distribution Officer of PT Sun Life Financial, Elin Waty, said that in an online survey from August 26 to September 10 in eight nations, 46 percents of Indonesian respondents claimed having a difficult time allocating time for sports due to their occupations.
The survey also cites that 33 percent of the respondents opt using social media or watching television rather than sports. Following was household duties (33 percent) and financial issue (26 percent).
Former Chief of Indonesian Doctor Association, Kartono Muhammad, confirmed the survey, saying that youths are associated with information and technology. "They often eat junk food, spend time in front of PC monitor, and using PC tablets or smartphones for sports," said Kartono.
