TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) recorded a net profit of Rp 18.12 trillion in the third quarter of 2014. The profit was 19 percent higher compared to the same period last year, which only recorded Rp 15.23 trillion.
According to BRI Managing Director Sofyan Basir, the increase of net profit is mainly caused by the increasing value of loans that are being distributed, which reaches up to Rp 464.19 trillion. "The growth of net profit results in "earning per share (EPS)" worth Rp 979.6, higher compared to the same period last year with only Rp 823,” Sofyan said on Wednesday, October 22, 2014.
The loan distrubutions continue to be dominated by the micro-financing segment with a 15.8 year-on-year (YoY) growth rate. "The distribution realization of the People’s business credit (KUR), outstanding KUR distributed by BRI, reached up to Rp 32.03 trillion, or is up by 21.94 YoY with 3 million customers," he said.
Despite the increasing profit, BRI's rate of Non-Performing Loan on September 2014 experienced a significant increase with 1.89 percent of NPL in the third quarter of 2014.
