TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that an earthquake measuring at 5.2 on the Richter Scale has struck the northwestern part of West Halmahera, North Maluku Province, on Thursday, October 23, 2014, at 13:59 local time.
According to Yuharman, the head of BMKG's Geophysics Station at Kotabumi, Lampung, the epicentre of the earthquake is located at a latitude of 1.83 North and a longitude of 127.30 East. The epicentre is known to be at a depth of 87 kilometres.
The site of the earthquake is 57 kilometres northwest of Halmahera, or 71 kilometres away northwest of North Halmahera.
