TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Hundreds of parks in Jakarta are forced not to have any kind of lighting at night due to a power outage.
“There are 387 points that experienced power outage,” Head of Landscape & Funeral Department, Nandar Sunandar, said on Tuesday, October 21. Among these points consist of 312 gardens, 56 offices, seven water sprinkles and several fountains.
The outage is done by PLN because of the debt made by the Landscaping Department. The debts were from the electricity payments on August (Rp1.34 billion) and on September (Rp1.5 billion). “Up until now, the additional budget that we have submitted to the Local Financial Management have not been cashed in yet,” Nandar said in a statement.
The power outage certainly makes hundreds of parks in Jakarta dark at night. To anticipate any kind of criminal matters, Nandar claimed to have tighten security patrols at the darken parks. “So these parks wouldn’t be misused for vandalism,” Nandar said.
In order to anticipate debt of electricity bill next year, Nandar stated that the ideal electricity budget allocation for the Landscaping Department is Rp18.5 billion. In fact, for this year, the electricity budget requested was of that amount. However, it turns out that after it was submitted to the Regional People’s Representative Council, only Rp12 billion of the budget was approved.
