TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Red-White Coalition and the Great Indonesia Coalition should unite and become the power of the nation, stated Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) deputy secretary general Ahmad Basarah.
"The grouping of political parties occurs in presidential affairs. Yesterday, Jokowi was sworn in as president. So, all parties should come together to develop the nation. The Red-White Coalition and the Great Indonesia Coalition should be disbanded," Ahmad Basarah stated here on Tuesday.
He pointed out that Indonesia will face bigger enemies in the form of neoliberalism and religious fundamentalism.
"Indonesia's first enemy is neoliberalism, which has led to an increase in oil prices. The foreign capital goes into the market. It is a real challenge," he emphasized.
The second enemy is religious fundamentalism, which aims to change the national ideology of Pancasila and intends to transform Indonesia into a state based on religion.
"ISIS has a lot of followers in Indonesia. There are many social organizations that denounce democracy, Pancasila, and the legislation," he affirmed.
Therefore, national unity was the best way to face these challenges.
"Let us not be divided by politics that can pose a threat to our unity," he noted.
He called on all people to jointly confront the enemies such as religious fundamentalism and neoliberalism.
