TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Saptastri Edningtyas, the head of the Jakarta Sanitary Agency, said the agency had cleaned up 80-100 tons of garbage at the National Monument (Monas) resulting from the inauguration of President Joko “ Jokowi” Widodo.
“This is the most garbage I’ve ever seen when I’m on duty in Jakarta,” she said.
Tyas added the agency’s personnel were cleaning the garbage in sequence, including during the event. She said the cleaning was completed early in the morning today.
She said the people who joined yesterday’s presidential celebration were still lacking the importance of cleanliness. Tyas explained the agency had placed trash cans at a number of points around the monument and distributed trash bags to vendors in a bid to keep the monument clean.
