TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Scores of world leaders were present in the inauguration of President Joko Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla on Monday.
At least 17 world leaders attended the inauguration held at People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) plenary meeting room. They come from Asia, Australia, America and Europe. Representatives from Africa are the only ones not present.
There were nine Asian leaders that sent their representatives to attend the inauguration. They were Brunei Darussalam, Timor Leste, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and South Korea. Leaders from Australia, Papua New Guinea and New Zealand were also present.
Russia, Turkey and the Netherlands are three European countries in the event. The United States was represented by Secretary of State John Kerry and Canada sent one parliament member.
MPR speaker Zulkifli Hassan called out their names one by one. They stood up and saluted when their names were called accompanied with applause from the audience.
