TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Economic Committee (KEN) issued three recommendations for president-elect Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and vice president-elect Jusuf “JK” Kalla as KEN deputy chairman Raden Pardede said that 2015 would be a difficult time for Indonesia’s economy.
“There would be unavoidable global challenges that we might face,” he said on Friday, October 18, 2014.
As the first recommendation, KEN reminded Jokowi about the importance of fiscal space amid economic slowdown. The fiscal space, Raden said, can be created by reducing subsidy and reallocated it to infrastructure development.
Second, KEN recommended improvement in logistic infrastructure that has yet been unaddressed since long ago. Finally, KEN asked Jokowi to create high-quality jobs to reduce gaps between the rich and the poor.
