TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Listed construction company of PT Adhi Karya (Persero) Tbk. (IDX: ADHI), will work on the monorail construction at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport. ADHI president director Kiswodarmawan said the project will facilitate passengers traveling to and from the airport, allowing them to avoid traffics on roads.
The monorail project is included in the airport development program taken by Lion Group's subsidiary, PT Angkasa Transportindo Selaras, in collaboration with the National Air Force. The development will begin with renovation and expansion of the airport to up to 100,000 square meters, which requires an investment of some Rp5 trillion.
In addition to the monorail, other facilities such as modern passenger terminal will be built, along with taxi lanes, aprons, and aerobridges.
Lion Group PR chief Edward Sirait said that the monorail will connect Halim Airport with the Dukuh Atas Station, carrying 180 passengers per trip.
Edward said the entire project is funded by Lion Group, sourced from the company's treasury and loans with a 50-50 portion. The project is estimated to take nine months to finish, with a target to increase the number of passengers to 11 million per year.
Lion Group founder Rusdi Kirana said that developing and expanding Halim Airport is crucial. The Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is expected to not be able to accommodate all passengers as Indonesia has seen a rapid growth of air travelers since 2004.
