Trade Expo Transaction Records Lower Number

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The total amount of transaction during the 29th Indonesia Trade Expo (ITE) in Jakarta, which lasts from October 8 to October 12, 2014, has reached US$ 1.42 billion. The number however, was 22 percent lower compared to last year's total transaction, which reached US$ 1.82 billion.
The Ministry of Trade asserted that the drop is due to global trade condition, which has not fully recovered. One of the sectors that experienced lower number of transaction during the ITE 2014 is the investment sector, which recorded a total transaction of US$500 million, a number significantly lower compared to the US$ 1,068 billion recorded last year.
"Investments during the ITE 2014 dropped by 53 percent due to other events dedicated for investments. What's important is the total value of investments," said Deputy Minister of Trade Bayu Krisnamurthi in a press conference on Wednesday, October 15, 2014.
From the total value of transaction in the ITE 2014, trade of goods dominated constituted the highest number with a total value of US$ 814.31 million, breaking the US$ 800 million target previously set. The number has increased by 17.64 percent compared to last year. Meanwhile, the value of transaction in the services sector reached US$ 105.09 million.
