Zuckerberg Wants 240 M Indonesians to Have Internet Access

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that he wanted more than 240 million of Indonesians to be able to access Internet.
“I am here to have direct dialogue with your country’s leaders and this is an important thing,” said Zuckerberg on Monday.
He said Internet access in Indonesia can cultivate businesses and create job fields and he also offered partnership with Indonesia.
On Monday morning, Zuckerberg met president-elect Joko Widodo at City Hall. After that he was scheduled to open Internet project workshop in Four Seasons Hotel.
Previously, in Internet.org forum in Indonesia, Facebook, Ecisson and XL Axiata have established cooperation to create a more efficient Facebook app in order to create an app that needs less data access. Internet.org itself is a project initiated by Facebook, Ericsson, Samsung, Nokia, Opera, Qualcomm and Mediatek to increase penetration to two-thirds of world population that not yet has Internet access.
After attending Internet.org forum in Four Seasons, Zuckerberg will also meet Tourism and Creative Economy deputy minister Sapta Nirwandar.
