TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Frankfurt Book Fair (FBF) was kicked start on October 8 in Frankfurt, Germany. The opening ceremony was attended by Presidents, Prime Ministers, and nine ministers from various countries. More than 100 countries and 7000 exhibitors are taking part in the world biggest and oldest book fair. In five days, there have been 250,000 visitors visiting the book fair.
Indonesia, who has been invited as the Guest of Honor in 2015 Frankfurt Book Fair, set up a pavilion in wooden concepts that exhibits more than 2000 books collections. There are books of literature, non-literature, comics, also children books. Some countries, including Indonesia, are presenting writers and litterateurs to attract visitors to their booths.
Goenawan Mohammad, Toeti Herati, Endo Suanda, dan Slamet Rahardjo, are Indonesian writers who also attended the opening in Frankfurt.
Wiendu Nuryanti, Deputy Minister of Indonesian Education and Culture, led Indonesian delegation in highlighting the lack of publishing about culture management.
FBF have become a benchmark for publishing industries both in developed and developing countries. The publishing industries is considered able to promote economy in non-oil and gas sector and mark the resurrection of intellectual talents.
As for the Guest of Honor, the opportunity is a means for campaigning one nation’s culture, tourism, and development.
