TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - All England 2014 winning pair Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir will end their partnership, swinging to other doubles Debby Susanto/Praveen Jordan. Tontowi will pair with Debby Susanto, while Liliyana will pair with Praveen Jordan.
National mixed double coach Richard Mainaky said that the decision was for the sake of regeneration. "Tontowi can then lead the younger player," said Mainaky, adding that shifting pair is a usual case, such as that in training session.
The new pairs will be put on test at Hong Kong Open Super Series 2014 in Kowloon, November 18-23. Prior to the new pairing, Tontowi/Liliyana sit at number four in world ranking. The pair snatched silver medal in Asian Games and managed to win All England in three consecutive years.
