TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of Jakarta Transportation Department, Muhammad Akbar, said that Uber taxi has no business license until now. Hence, its existence remains illegal. "We have issued a letter to them, but haven’t received any reply," Akbar said in a statement today.
So far, the Transportation Department is still waiting on Uber’s good intention and is expected to report in short notice.
The Transportation Department has issued a letter to the Ministry of Communications and Informatics to block Uber application. However, Akbar was shocked to hear that its website remains active.
Other than the Ministry of Communications, the Transportation Department also sent a letter to Metro Jaya Police Department.
