TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation Center (PVMBG) North Sumatra, reported that Mount Sinabung has erupted four times this morning.
It also reported that the eruption came with volcanic ash.
In the meantime, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, Head of Public Relations and Information Data Center of The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) in his press release said its status remains at 'alert' (level 3).
"The situation remains normal. There have been no reports of more displaced residents," Sutopo said.
The first eruption happened at 01.36 a.m, accompanied by volcanic ash from the peak of the mountain (monitored by using a thermal camera), with the speed of 4,500 meter heading the south. The volcanic ash reached 2,000 meter high, while the eruption reportedly lasted for 263 seconds.
The second eruption happened at 06.38 a.m., accompanied by the volcanic ash from the peak moving with the speed of 2,500 meter to the south. The eruption lasted for 152 seconds.
The third eruption happened at 07.36 a.m., accompanied by the volcanic ash from the peak of the mountain with the speed of 3,000 meter to the South. The eruption lasted for 158 seconds.
The last and the fourth eruption happened at 07:53 a.m., accompanied by the volcanic ash with the speed of 4,500 meters to the South. The volcanic ash reached 3,000 meter, with the eruption lasting for 229 seconds.
