TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Two suicide bombers have attacked military buses in the Afghanistan capital city of Kabul on Wednesday, October 1, killing at least seven people. The attack occurred a day after the new Afghanistan government signed a security pact with the United States.
Several sources who refuse to be mentioned, told Al Jazeera that seven Afghan National Army officers were killed in one of the attacks near the University of Kabul early on Wednesday, wounding at least 15 other people in the attack.
In an attack on another army bus near a police station located north of the capital, six people were reportedly injured. "The Taliban claimed responsibility," according to AFP news agency.
Afghan security officials have faced a resurgent Taliban in recent months. Authorities say an average of 18 Afghans are killed every day this year.
