TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Common Use Lounge building, which replaces migrant workers (TKI) lounge in Terminal 2D in Soekarno-Hatta Airport, will start operating on Wednesday. The multifunctional building that comes with TKI Crisis Center room will be launched concurrently with the closing of Selapajang Agency for the Placement and Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers’ (BNP2TKI) homecoming service center.

“Common Use Lounge will be launched by BNP2TKI chief,” said Soekarno-Hatta Airport spokesman Yudis Tiawan on Tuesday.

According to Yudis, the inauguration of the new building is the follow-up to rearrangement of TKI repatriation process in Soekarno-Hatta Airport. Upon their arrival at Soekarno-Hatta, TKU will be treated as flight passengers in general. TKI will be given freedom to go home to their hometown with their own way and problematic TKI will have to go through processing at Crisis Center. All of the processes are fully handled by the BNP2TKI.

Several facilities such as cafes, restaurants, souvenir shops, prayer rooms, money changers and CCTVs are all prepared in that area. The CCTVs are set up to ensure no more extortion towards TKI who go home through Soekarno-Hatta Airport. “There are seven CCTVs in this area,” said Soekarno-Hatta senior general manager Bram Bharoto Tjiptadi.

The CCTVs function to monitor and record all activities in that area. “All can be monitored through the control room,” he said.
