TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) deputy chief Adnan Pandu Praja has questioned the intent of the Red and White coalition (KMP) in proposing a revision to the Law on Corruption Eradication Commission.
“We have no guarantee that the revision can help strengthen the KPK,” he said.
Adnan said he was worried about a possible political agenda behind the proposed revision. He took for example that newly-ratified regional election bill was initially suggested by the Home Affairs Minister to combat money politics, but it later transformed into a medium of talks for power sharing at the House among political factions.
Commenting on the bill, Pandu was certain that its ratification was laden with political agendas. “Politicians have their own perspective beyond that of practitioners’ logic,” he said.
The Prabowo-led KMP has recently proposed a plan to revise the KPK Law after successfully pressuring the House to ratify the regional election bill in the early hours of Friday.
