TEMPO.CO, New York - Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa held three bilateral meetings during the UN General Assembly in UN Headquarters in New York yesterday.
Minister Marty met Georgian Foreign Minister Maia Panjikilde, Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra and Latvian Foreign Minister Edgards Rinkevics at 11.00 to 12.20 local time.
The meetings focused on economic cooperation potential for more concrete relations.
"Our trade relations with Georgia have grown 40 percent in the last six months," said the minister. "This shows that the efforts to improve economic diplomacy brought real result."
Georgia, who recently established itsembassy in Jakarta, hopes that Indonesia would do the same in their country while Algeria hopes for more investment from Indonesia. "Indonesia’s investment in Algeria is one of the largest in North Africa," said Marty.
Algeria has invested in energy sector. Lamamra hoped cooperation in that sector could be enhanced with a deployment of Indonesian trade and economic mission to Algeria.
