TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Tourism and Culture Agency will hold a cultural event called Gebyar Budaya on Saturday at Monas Park, Central Jakarta, on Saturday, September 27. Various cultural performances will be showcased from morning until evening.
Jakarta Tourism and Culture Agency chief Arie Budhiman said the event is free. "People are welcome to come and enjoy the show," he said yesterday.
For a day, there will be creative an industry exhibition, archipelago carnival, musical performances and colossal dance performance themed "Warna Warni Jakarta untuk Dunia". The featured cultures will not only be from Jakarta, but also from across Indonesia. "This is our effort to realize Jakarta as Indonesia’s main cultural center and tourism destination," said Arie.
The colossal dance performance will be directed by Rama Soeprapto and will feature 50 dancers and 20 musicians. "This is a mix of traditional and contemporary dances."
Meanwhile, the cultural carnival will feature 20 communities consisting of 350 people. They hoped the cultural carnival can be on the same level with other cultural carnivals in other regions in Indonesia.
