TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government of Sierra Leone has ‘quarantined’ their people for three days following the worsening Ebola outbreak in the city. The attempt was successful as health officers managed to uncover hundreds of unrecorded Ebola cases which have not been recorded before.
"As many as 123 people have contacted health officers because they they felt Ebola symptoms. 51 people were positively infected, 31 people was tested negative, and the other 36 are still pending the lab results," said Chief of Emergency Ebola Operation Center Stephen Gaojia, as reported by TIME yesterday.
Last week, the government ordered its 6 million citizens to stay inside their homes for three days. At the same time, 30,000 health officers, volunteers, and doctors campaigned around town giving lectures on Ebola and how to prevent an outbreak.
"Although the campaign is over, there is a large chance that we will do it again," said Health Minister Abubakar Fofanah.
