TEMPO.CO, Washington - The United States and its allies, along with the Arab countries, have launched their initial air strike towards the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Spokesman of the Pentagon Admiral John Kirby, said that US have deployed fighter jets, bombers, tomahawk missiles, and drones in the airstrike.
The airstrike is a part of Barack Obama's promise to put an end to ISIS, now ruling a part of Syria and Iraq. The US has, in total, launched 190 airstrikes towards ISIS in Iraq since August. However, the most recent airstrikes has expanded its coverage to Syrian border.
Reports showed that the airstrikes, which were rumored to involve Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, and Qatar, took place in Raqqa, ISIS base on the Easter part of Syria. On the other hand, Syria has not confirmed to have provide approvel for the airstrike. BBC journalist on Washington DC Barbara Plett, later confirmed that US has bombarded ISIS in Syria without the nation's clearance.
