TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bakrie & Brothers' subsidiary Bakrie Pipe Industries is eyeing the Jangkrik Field pipeline project in Muara Bakau, East Kalimantan. The project, which will connect Jangkrik with industries in Bontang, is currently managed by Ente Nazionale Idocarburi (ENI) Indonesia Ltd.
Bakrie Pipe director Mas Wirgantoro said last week that it the project would require 22,000 tons of pipes with an overall length of some 30,000 kilometers.
Reza Priyambada, an analyst with Trust Securities, said Bakrie Pipe's decision to work on the project is a right one, considering the bright prospects of the gas infrastructure business.
"Moreover, in the future, the government will run a fuel oil-to-gas conversion program. This has a bright prospect," Reza told Tempo yesterday.
