TEMPO.CO, Banyuwangi – 2014 Miss Indonesia Elvira Devinamira said she was set to help promote the tourism potential of Banyuwangi regency, East Java when taking part in the upcoming 2014 Miss Universe beauty pageant in Miami, the United States.
Elvira, who made the statement when attending the Banyuwangi Batik Festival (BFF) on Saturday, said she was impressed with the natural exquisiteness of the regency—which is often dubbed “the sunrise of Java”—despite her visiting the regency for the first time since crowned as Miss Indonesia.
“I arrived in Banyuwangi yesterday [September 19], and was directly invited to the Red Island Beach. Frankly, I was amazed by the beauty of the beach,” Elvira said on Saturday.
The Surabaya-born Miss Indonesia spent her time on the beach until afternoon for a photo shoot to prepare for the Miss Universe contest next year.
“I will bring the pictures from the Red Island Beach to the U.S. Hopefully this can help promote the natural beauty of Indonesia, particularly Banyuwangi,” Elvira told reporters.
