TEMPO.CO, London - Chelsea forward Didier Drogba is excited to meet his former teammate Frank Lampard in the big match against Manschester City in Etihad Stadium tomorrow. Drogba believes that Lampard still belongs to The Blues.
"It is a pity that I came back and he's not here anymore, but I will be happy to see him. It doesn't matter the team where he is playing, I think he still belongs to us. He is a Chelsea player, for what he did. For me, he is part of the history of the club," Drogba said as quoted by Sky Sport.
Drogba and Lampard were Chelsea's key components who delivered the Blues' first championship in 50 years in 2005. Drogba had just returned to Chelsea after campaigns in China and Turkey. Lampard who left Chelsea for New York City FC in summer is now playing for Manchester City on loan.
The Ivorian also backed Lampard to show the professionalism for which he is renowned if he is selected by City at the Etihad Stadium.
"It's going to be difficult," Drogba added. "But I know Frank - he will do his best if he is playing."
