TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe National Mandate Party (PAN) has reiterated its commitment to remain part of the Red-and-White coalition, although some of its cadres attended a meeting of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) in Semarang.

PAN Deputy Chairman Dradjad Wibowo and Chief of the PAN faction in the House of Representatives (DPR) Catur Sapto Edy attended the meeting, which brought together 1,590 PDI-P cadres, including President-elect Joko "Jokowi" Widodo.

Also at the meeting was Vice President-elect Jusuf Kalla of the Golkar Party.

"We were invited to attend the meeting. After considering the invitation thoroughly, we decided to attend it as part of silaturahim," Dradjad said, on the sidelines of the meeting.

Drajat added that he attended the meeting to maintain the existing good relations with PDI-P cadres, although the two parties have different political views.

"This is the culture developed by our founding fathers, Bung Karno and Bung Hatta," he said.

PAN seek to teach the public that political differences should not necessarily cause frictions, he said.

"So I would like to affirm that PAN remains part of the Red-and-White coalition and our stand remains unchanged," he said.
