TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The currently held Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) at the Jakarta International Expo has become a long-awaited event for the automotive lovers. Not only displaying cars ready for purchase, some booths are displaying concept cars until Sunday, September 28.
Among the concept cars are Mitsubishi's Concept AR (Active Runabout), Toyota's FT1, and Daihatsu's Cross-over Utility Vehicle 2 (CUV-2).
Fauzia, a visitor from South Jakarta, said she is visiting the IIMS to see the concept cars.
"Although I have yet to see all the brands, Mitsubishi’s Concept AR have attracted me," Fauzia said yesterday. "Too bad the production in Indonesia is still a long way to go."
Concept AR is a combination of multipurpose vehicle (MPV) and sports utility vehicle (SUV). The car that can accommodate six passengers is employing Hybrid Belt Start Generator (BSG).
At Toyota booth, some visitors were seen enthusiastically taking self photos with the racing concept car.
Daihatsu's CUV-2, on the other side, also steals a spotlight with its tiny design. The car is a further development of Daihatsu's Ayla and fit for five people.
"It is tiny, suitable for use in Indonesia," said Esa, a visitor.
