TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Powatag application from PowaTechnologies can be downloaded in smartphones to ease consumers shopping in supermarkets.
"This app is the latest commerce mobile solution which helpS consumers transact when shopping, by scanning the tag that is contained in various promotion materials in supermarkets," Marketing Director of Powatechnologies David Pipe said yesterday.
The scanning process can be performed through a camera or microphone that exists in smartphones, with triggers such as QR Code, Java Script, NFC technology or "tag audio".
"PowaTechnologies ensures that personal consumers data will not be spread. Using Powatag will get discounts toward certain items in certain times in supermarkets collaborating with Powatechnologies," Pipe said in a statement.
To provide this service, PowaTechnologies cooperates with HiCard.
Other than downloading the Powatag app, consumers must purchase a HiCard to be used during transactions.
"The Powatag app can be used in 48 Hypermart outlets throughout Indonesia," Pipe said.
Consumer behavior observer Netta Sjafei said the utilization will be helpful with programs and applications that could simplify during the search for goods.
"Consumers move quick, be smarter in selecting choices and requires a fast decision in obtaining goods that are needed. This app is to simplify them to get what they need," Netta said.
