TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - British Prime Minister David Cameron said that he is glad that Scotland people refused to part from Great Britain. Therefore, Cameron feels the need for renewal and just solvency, not only for Scotland but also for England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
Scottish Prime Minister Alex Salmond, who proposed the referendum, said that he accepts the defeat. Salmond said that the referendum is an agreement and process for the majority of Scotland in choosing as to whether they want to be independent or not. Moreover, Salmond asked the British Union to provide more authority to Scottish parliament in running the state.
In the referendum itself, 31 out of 32 regions in Scotland opted no for referendum. In total, there were 1,914,187 votes of opposing referendum, against 1,539,920.
