TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Outgoing President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is carrying out his last visits to foreign countries, namely Portugal, the United States and Japan.

Yudhoyono and his envoy departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, Jakarta, on Thursday, September 18, at 08.00 a.m. The visits to the three countries are scheduled from September 18 to September 30.

The visit will start in Lisabon, Portugal, on September 18-20. Yudhoyono’s visit to Lisabon is a return courtesy visit of Portuguese President Anibal Cavaco Silva, who came to Jakarta in May 2012.

In Lisabon, Yudhoyono is slated for bilateral talks with President Anibal Cavaco Silva, Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho and Parliamentary speaker Assuncao Esteves to boost cooperation in multiple sectors.

After Portugal, the president will leave for New York, US, to attend the 69th UN General Assembly, preside over the 2014 UN climate high-level meeting and deliver an opening speech at the Open Government Partnership High Level Event (OGP-HLE).

Afterwards, Yudhoyono will depart to Washington to inaugurate the Indonesian Muslim Association in America (IMAAM) Center: an Islamic center for Muslims in Washington for gathering and prayers.

From America, the president and his entourage will go to Kyoto, Japan to receive an honoris causa from Ritsumeikan University. Yudhoyono is scheduled to leave Japan on September 30 and arrive in Jakarta on October 1.
